| “My Mother had relatives who ran the general store in Norval, the first town on Highway 7, just west of Brampton. That store was located just west of the wheelbarrow in this watercolour. I used to enjoy traveling to Norval to sketch for the day and, on this particular occasion, it was early summer, as witnessed to by the blossoming chestnut trees. The clean greens of this painting lend it the air of freshness I was striving to achieve.” A.J.
