Mill at Washago, 1938

“Washago is a little village at the eastern extremity of Lake Couchiching.  I pass through the village a few times each year and one summer accepted a friend’s invitation to stay at his cottage there for a week.  It was at that time that I completed the sketch of the old flour mill.  The horses were obviously skittish because of the approaching storm and having them in the picture greatly enhanced its composition.”
