| “As hard as it is to believe today, this old farm was located on the northeast corner of York Mills Road and Bayview Avenue, in what is now residential Toronto. This watercolour was the result of a spur-of-the-moment sketching foray on a grey afternoon in mid-winter. This painting is a vivid reminder to me of the plethora of excellent sketching opportunities that one had on one’s doorstep in those days. It seems that with each succeeding year one has to travel further and further to find subjects of comparable interest.” A.J.
