Village of Mt. Albert, 1938

“In the late 1930s, I used to enjoy taking day sketching trips to Mount Albert, a little, scattered village just east of Schomberg.

This watercolour is further witness to my continuing interest in rural southern Ontario. In this particular scene I was attracted by the colours, the composition and the brightness of the sunlight reflecting off the freshly-fallen snow. Due to the crisp coldness of the day, this sketch was completed in the cozy confines of my studio.”
