Markham, Ontario
This “historic” steam locomotive was built in 1883 by Rogers Locomotive Works. On November 7th, 1885, the Canadian Pacific Railway’s transcontinental line (four thousand miles of iron road from the Atlantic to the Pacific) was completed, formally linking Canada together as a nation. South Simcoe Railway Heritage Corporation’s #136 was one of the steam locomotives used to build that line. For many years, #136 was kept in storage. In 1974, it was featured on the CBC-TV Series “The National Dream”. It now operates excursions from Tottenham to Beeton. Al Darling brings to his viewers in his limited edition print, “Steams Up”, a part of our history and heritage seen in an artistically new way. He highlights a portion of the image by printing it in colour and leaves the remaining image in black and white. Mr. Darling who resides in Markham, Ontario has photographed extensively in Ontario, Quebec, Eastern Canada and Europe and has been the recipient of many photographic competition awards. Northland Art Company (NAC) is the exclusive distributor of Allan Darling’s limited edition prints, which are available through Authorized NAC Dealers across Canada.
