Tom Thomson Sells for $2.75-Million

This small oil on panel (only 8 ½ inches by 10 ½ inches) sold for a record $2,749,500. (including buyer’s premium) at Heffel’s Fine Art Auction held yesterday.  According to Robert and David Heffel, this is the most ever paid for a Thomson painting.

The consignor (an anonymous Canadian philanthropist) is donating the proceeds from the sale of this work to Canadian charities, along with the proceeds from seven other works sold at the auction.
